ACCS Conversion

Warning: The FIMA to CBS ACCS Conversion will provide unreliable results for many Project Codes. The conversion program assumed there was a one-to-one relationship between FIMA Task Numbers and CBS Project Codes. The conversion routine would convert the FIMA Task Number to a CBS Project Code by adding a leading character which represented the Line Office (e.g., 1 - NOS, 4 - NWS, 6 - NFA, etc.).

In late February 2003, Congress changed the nature of NOAA's funding.  As a result, NOAA had to create new Fund Codes and Project Codes.  For Project Codes in the affected appropriations, the leading character now represents the fiscal year (e.g., A = FY2003, B = FY2004, etc.).  As a result, FIMA Task Numbers from the affected appropriations will have multiple CBS Project Codes.  The conversion routines can not accommodate this complexity.  The routine will usually convert to the Project Code with the Line Office code as the leading character.

The CBS Project/Task Code Listing should be used to query on selected CBS Project/Task codes.  The use of the wildcard character (?) in the first position of the Project Code will return all associated Project Codes. The results have been modified to include Task Code end dates and crosswalks to prior Project Codes, if applicable.

To simply validate all or part of a CBS Accounting Classification Code Structure (ACCS), use the CBS Validation Screen.

Use TAB to move between fields. Supply as many components of your accounting code as you wish. However, failure to supply all components may limit the program's ability to convert.
